Kenneth Leon Alcorn Obituary

Kenneth Leon Alcorn was born on September 17, 1924 to John Irvin Alcorn and Cora Pearl (Yeary) Alcorn in the Amber, Oklahoma community. Kenneth passed away in Tulsa, May 7, 2016. He was 91 years old. Kenneth was the youngest of eight children and the only son, and spent a significant part of his boyhood on the 101 Ranch near Marland, OK. He attended Central HS in Tulsa, OK, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in November 1941, a month before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII, including the decisive Battle of Midway, and completed his service in July 1945. He began his post war career working for Technicolor Studios in Hollywood. He returned to Tulsa, OK to work for the US Postal Service, and then worked for 30+ years in auto sales. He was a founding member of the Cushing Christian Church in Cushing, OK and later served as a deacon and an elder at Sandusky Ave. Christian Church for 35 years. Kenneth married Betty Lou Raburn on February 1, 1947 and they had five children together. He was a Grandpa to nine grandchildren and a Great Grandpa to four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven sisters Anna, Essie, Alvis, Thelma, Ora, Verlin, and Norma, and his third son Kevin. Survivors include his wife Betty; sons: Steven (wife, Jera) and Kenneth (wife, Beth); daughters: Donna (husband, Bruce) and Joni (husband, David); as well as his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service in Tulsa, A service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Sandusky Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa. www.tulsafuneral.com.
